The Peterbilt Technician Institute (PTI) has taken significant strides in expanding its reach and capabilities by opening a new campus in Denver, in collaboration with Lincoln Tech. This development marks the fourth location of the institute, further broadening the scope of service technician training in the United States.

At the heart of the PTI program is a 12-week intensive training course, meticulously designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge related to Peterbilt equipment. Training encompasses a wide range of systems found in trucks, including fuel, electrical, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), suspensions, brakes, aftertreatment, and specifically PACCAR MX engines. This hands-on, comprehensive approach ensures that students emerge from the program with a robust understanding of how to maintain and repair these complex systems.

An outstanding feature of completing the PTI program is the earning of factory-trained technician credentials. These credentials are not just a testament to the student’s hard work and learning but also serve as a key to unlocking career opportunities. Graduates are poised to fast-track their way into the workforce, with over 425 Peterbilt dealerships across the United States and Canada potentially open to them. This opportunity represents a substantial benefit, considering the demand for skilled technicians in the trucking and logistics industry.

Since its inception, PTI has successfully graduated more than 1,000 certified service technicians from three key locations: Nashville, Chicago, and Dallas-Fort Worth. With recruitment now commencing for the Denver campus, the institute looks forward to welcoming its first cohort of students in the fall of 2024.

The establishment of this partnership between PTI and Lincoln Tech in 2023 marks a significant enhancement in the geographic availability and quality of service technician training. Danny Landholm, the Peterbilt director of dealer network development, emphasized that the Denver location serves as an additional point of access for aspiring service technicians. The primary goal is to augment the pool of candidates ready to support the extensive Peterbilt dealer network, ensuring that Peterbilt customers receive the best possible service.

PTI’s unique educational approach is designed to maximize learning efficacy. It cleverly integrates classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience, fostering an immersive training environment. By emphasizing teamwork, the program also aims to enhance communication skills among students. Furthermore, web-based activities are incorporated into the curriculum to round out the technician’s skill set, ensuring they possess a comprehensive technical knowledge base suited to the demands of their future roles.

Prospective students or those interested in pursuing a career as a factory-trained technician have the opportunity to delve into further details about the PTI program by visiting their website. This portal offers comprehensive information regarding the curriculum, enrolment process, and the manifold benefits that come with graduating from such a distinguished institution.

As the PTI continues to expand and refine its educational offerings, the opening of the Denver campus signifies an important step towards addressing the current and future needs of the trucking and logistics industries. Through cutting-edge training and education, PTI is set to contribute significantly to the development of skilled service technicians, crucial for maintaining the high standards of operation and safety associated with the Peterbilt brand.
