Lincoln Tech’s Grand Atlanta Opening: New Campus Launches May 9!

by Dexter Briones

East Point, Georgia is set to witness a significant development in specialized technical training with the opening of Lincoln Educational Services Corporation’s (NASDAQ: LINC) new campus on May 9th, 2024. A grand opening event, starting at 12 PM, is poised to attract industry leaders, local hiring partners, and regional political figures, including Georgia State Senator Sonya Halpern and East Point Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham. This establishment marks Lincoln’s second venture in the Atlanta area, reinforcing its commitment to expanding skill-based education in Georgia.

Located in East Point, GA, the campus aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in several key industries. By offering career training programs in Automotive Service Technology, Electrical and Electronic Systems Technology, Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology, and Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating (HVAC) Technology, Lincoln is set to play a pivotal role in meeting the workforce needs of these sectors. These fields are expected to generate more than 100,000 job opportunities across Georgia by 2030, according to current projections found on onetonline.org as of April 17, 2024. Additionally, students aspiring for managerial roles can benefit from the Associate degree-granting Service Management programs designed to enhance their career prospects post-graduation.

Moreover, graduates from the East Point campus will have the opportunity to engage in advanced career training with some of Lincoln Tech’s esteemed partners, including Tesla, Mazda, Peterbilt, Republic Services, Johnson Controls International, Hussmann Refrigeration, and the Food Processing Suppliers Association. This not only underscores Lincoln’s strong industry connections but also emphasizes the quality and relevance of its training programs tailored to meet the specific needs of employers.

Scott Shaw, President and CEO of Lincoln Tech, stressed the critical role of the new campus in briditing the skills gap in the workforce. “The need for skilled, trained professionals in these industries has been evident for many years,” Shaw noted. He highlighted the potential slowdown in productivity and economic growth due to the skills gap, reiterating Lincoln Tech’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of workers equipped with the necessary skills to revitalize the workforce in these fields.

Campus President Don Lane echoed Shaw’s sentiments, emphasizing the great potential the Atlanta market holds for students and employers alike. The addition of the East Point campus is expected to strengthen Lincoln’s presence in the Atlanta area, building on the legacy of its Marietta campus, which has served the community for over two decades. While the Marietta campus continues to focus on healthcare support, electrical, and HVAC programs, the new East Point campus, with a capacity to serve up to 700 students, will expand the training opportunities available to students in the city and its southern environs, thanks to its strategic location near Interstate 85.
