Parsippany, NJ, April 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Lincoln Educational Services Corporation (NASDAQ: LINC), a national leader in specialized technical training for over 75 years, has announced the awarding of scholarships to two Automotive Service & Technology students at its campus in Melrose Park, IL, a suburb of Chicago. The campus, known for its robust graduation placement rates and strong ties with local employers, has been a cornerstone of Lincoln Tech’s educational offerings for decades.

The recipients, Martiez Caffey and Dalia Alvarez, were selected for the Lawrence Arthur Pritchett Memorial Scholarship Award, presented by the Lincoln Foundation for Education, Inc. (LiFE). Named after Lawrence Arthur Pritchett, a Chicago native and seasoned mechanic with over 30 years at Amoco Oil Company (now BP), the scholarship aims to support students looking to advance their careers in the automotive industry, honoring Pritchett’s passion and legacy in the field.

Caffey expressed his deep-rooted fascination with vehicles and his desire to alleviate financial pressures on his family. “This scholarship will help me achieve my childhood goal and is also a huge burden lifted from my mother. After I graduate, I can work on trucks and pursue my CDL license, thanks to Lincoln Tech and this incredible scholarship opportunity,” he remarked.

Alvarez shared her long-standing dream of working on cars and entering the racing world. Now, with Lincoln Tech’s support and the scholarship, she feels empowered to pursue her ambitions and tackle any challenges ahead. “It gives me the chance to chase my dream, and I’m ready to overcome any challenge that is thrown at me,” she said.

Karen Clark, President of Lincoln Tech’s Melrose Park campus, praised the recipients’ dedication and the opportunity to celebrate Mr. Pritchett’s legacy. “We couldn’t think of two more deserving students than Martiez Caffey and Dalia Alvarez,” she commented.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants had to demonstrate exemplary academic performance and consistent attendance, showcasing their commitment to their automotive careers. Michael Pritchett, Lawrence’s son, underscored his father’s lifelong commitment to the automotive field, noting the family’s pride in supporting students who share his enthusiasm.

With the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting more than 2,900 annual openings for trained Automotive Service Technicians in Illinois, Lincoln Tech’s Melrose Park campus plays a crucial role in meeting this demand by graduating skilled technicians equipped to enter the workforce.
